Martin Harley is quite simply one of the best blues guitar players around at the moment, with a burgeoning global reputation. Martin played at Inchyra in 2015 and anyone who was there that night will tell you that it was something very special. 2017's return was no less impressive and the added bonus of the accomplished bass playing of Daniel Kimbro only added to the experience. 

Since last visiting us, Martin has released the widely acclaimed album 'Live at Southern Ground' in a collaboration with Daniel (Jerry Douglas, Larkin Poe) on upright bass. This tour celebrated the release of their latest collaboration - 'Static in the Wires'.

Martin's name has become synonymous with the British and American slide guitar scene and it has earned him an iTunes No 1 album as well as a massive following in the US with appearances on VH1, Fox News, Bottle Rock and two supporting nationwide tours.

While he was at Inchyra, Martin gave this outstanding performance for our Tree Room Sessions:

Martin Stephenson has been one of the UK’s best-loved musicians for 30 years. Stephenson’s “must see” live performances are an exuberant tour-de-force combining heart-in-your-mouth intimacy with playful humour and warm self-deprecation.

The Daintees’ critically acclaimed 1986 debut Boat to Bolivia opened up an always interesting story. It showcased Stephenson’s songwriting, poetic romanticism and spiritual depth – so marking him out as a soulful cream of the leftfield crop during the self-obsessed 1980s. (A celebratory tour of the 30 year anniversary of this phenomenally successful album toured the UK at the end of last year). Never pandering to a particular scene, Stephenson’s lightness of touch on a varied mix of musical styles was immediately apparent. His path was destined to be a lifelong journey through the music he loved: folk, ragtime, jazz, rockabilly, show tunes, punk-pop and country.

The NME said of Martin’s song craft that he “builds bridges between love and hate, cradle and grave, folk and pop, past and present.”

Stephenson’s restless troubadour spirit has amassed an extraordinary catalogue of some 40 albums and he is a gifted, entertaining and much-loved performer.

 

Perthshire fiddler and singer Patsy Reid is one of the most admired musicians in the UK.  We were thrilled to welcome Patsy to the Arts Club following the release of this year's highly acclaimed solo album The Brightest Path.

In the last couple of years, the former Breabach fiddle player has performed extensively with BBC Radio 2 Folk Award 2013 winners Kathryn Tickell and Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman, The Cecil Sharp Project and Zakir Hussain's Pulse of the World.  She also contributed violin, viola and cello to albums by Duncan Chisholm, Bella Hardy, the Treacherous Orchestra and Tim Edey, to name just a few.

Patsy now takes centre stage - accompanied by an equally accomplished band - to bring us tunes and songs from The Brightest Path, her first solo recording since 2008's rapturously received Bridging The Gap.  The album features freshly  recovered traditional Scottish melodies from the Atholl Collection, alongside self-penned and contemporary material that demonstrates Patsy's ability to virtually sing through her instrument.   Combining skills and techniques from both folk and classical disciplines, Lau's Aidan O'Rourke describes her as having "an accuracy and tone that many fiddlers only dream of.  She has truly mastered her instrument."

Patsy will be joined by Matheu Watson on guitar and mandolin, Alistair Iain Paterson on piano and Signy Jakobsdottir on percussion.

Skye's great Peatbog Faeries returned to Inchyra as they celebrated an amazing 25 years in the business

We were delighted that great Peatbog Faeries chose to return to Inchyra as they mark this incredible milestone with a country wide tour.  The Faeries were last here in the autumn of 2014 when they produced a performance that was definitely one of the best nights in the Byre and this was the first return show for a headline act at Inchyra.

Hailing from the Isle of Skye, the Peatbog Faeries are the figurehead trailblazers of the Celtic Dance Music renaissance. Drawing upon a dazzling myriad of influences from traditional jigs and reels through jazz, hip hop, reggae and more, they take traditional Scottish music and bring it fresh-faced and breathless into the 21st century.  They have toured the world taking their inventive and unique brand of music and light show to audiences far and wide, never failing to fill the floor and delight the crowd.

This was high octane Celtic dance music as you’ve never heard it before and the crowd danced ... and danced!  One guest emailed us to say thanks for the gig - and for adding 9,000 steps to her Fitbit!

The Peatbog Faeries are Peter Morrison (pipes and whistles), Ross Couper (fiddle), Tom Salter (guitar), Innes Hutton (bass, percussion) Graeme Stafford (keyboards) and Stuart Haikney (drums).

Skye's legendary trailblazers returned to Inchyra by popular demand making for a record-breaking THIRD appearance on the Byre stage.  We were absolutely delighted that the band chose to play Inchyra as one of a limited number of shows during 2018.

Review: Pete Drummond Hay

Penguin Cafe gave a taste of something completely different at the Inchyra Arts Club. Veering from New Age ambient sound to a sort of modern Chamber Music, the seven musicians took the sizeable crowd on a wonderfully
thoughtful journey – to their obvious delight.

Arthur Jeffes formed Penguin Cafe to keep his Father’s legacy, The Penguin
Cafe Orchestra, alive and they began with one of those original Simon Jeffes
compositions ‘Perpetuum Mobile’, a restless continuum based on a slightly
complicated piano rhythm and some delightful instrumentation. They switched
between the new and the old seamlessly. Recently, a tie-up with Greenpeace,
resulted in a series of pieces written about and describing the characters of 
the indigenous penguin population of Antartica, of which ‘Emperor ‘ was a stand
out, with its haunting theme and magisterial presence.

Penguin Cafe’s music does not sit comfortably in a single style or genre and in
‘Pythagoras On The Line’, an engaged tone and chopsticks are used to give a
fascinating swirling, geometric effect which is very definitely in New Age
territory. The musicians are splendidly in tune with each other and the
combination of Viola, Violins, Cello, Bass, Piano and Percussion give a fabulous
and energetically full sound. The music is very strong rhythmically, exemplified
by ‘Rescue’, described as music with a happy ending. It is also hypnotic and strangely familiar with its motif based repetition. Piano is the rhythmic base of
the music, which is unusual in itself and then the influences pour in on top.
Modern Baroque Classical music and Eastern European crowd in until the final
encore of the Celtic based’ Music for a found Harmonium’ from the original
Orchestra’s repertoire sent the crowd home into the warm spring evening
humming these fabulous tunes. Great music and great weather combining in a
memorable night.

 

 

The Sunday Times has described them as “wonderful”; the Telegraph named them one of its ‘favourite new bands”; Radio 2 called them “a band to watch” and veteran DJ Johnnie Walker praises their gigs as “just a really good, fun time”.

Their literate and superbly crafted songs veer from the wistful and poetic to flat-out, foot-stomping tales of doomed barbecues, French mustard and falling in love on a Tennessee highway.

Founded in 2009 in, if they're honest, a bit of a bucket list moment, over the last year the band have suddenly found themselves very  popular indeed - which is no surprise as they are VERY good at what they do (incidentally, they are also VERY good at what they do when they're not playing in the band as the members include a Guardian columnist, a barrister and the MD of a highly successful advertising company!)   PDH is now gigging in earnest, and finding themselves sold out at shows across the south.   Buoyed by a rapturous reception at festivals last summer, with appearances at Cornbury, Camp Bestival, Larmer Tree and Kendal Calling, among others, this year sees them on a full festival schedule through the summer and then a UK tour to promote a brand new album being released this autumn.

One of Scotland's finest young singers and lyricists visited Inchyra for the first time following the July release of her new, hotly anticipated second album, 'Tied to the Moon'.

Twenty three year old Rachel has toured extensively across the world since her stunning arrival on the music scene in 2011, making her a young veteran on the gig circuit. In the past four years she has toured across her native Scotland and the UK numerous times as well as appearing in Canada, the US, Australia, Iceland and Europe as well as sharing the stage with names such as The Staves, Stornoway, Rumer, Mumford & Sons, Ron Sexsmith and Elvis Costello.

Rachel Sermanni has an impressive musical and professional resume, a swathe of EP's recorded all over the world, and now two full length studio albums. Her newest release, Tied to the Moon, was recorded in the Highlands and sees Rachel digging deeper than ever and offering a darker and more rhythmic flavour of poetry and music.

 

As Music News said "If he wasn’t amongst us already, somebody would have to invent Roberto Cassani, he’s such a blast of fresh air in a tired, self-regarding world." A little bit jazz, a little bit swing, a little bit blues, a whole load cabaret, with a splash of Tim Minchin and Tom Lehrer thrown in for good measure  

Roberto Cassani is the delightful double-bass slapping child of a threesome between swing, rock ‘n’ roll and the musical cabaret of Milan.  Joined by the Tickety Two, guitar maestro Owen Nicholson and renowned drummer Dave Clelland, and united by a love of their families, a laugh, 12 notes and good biscuits, they do what nobody in music seems to do: have a laugh. And make no mistake: these guys can play!   Their first album was released earlier this year - produced by the legendary Martin Stephenson, it is a live session recorded in one day.

Rupert Stroud at Inchyra Arts Club - reviewed by Pete Drummond-Hay

The Inchyra Arts Club has made a habit of promoting up and coming stars of the future and Friday’s show with Rupert Stroud was another to celebrate.

The show opened with support band The Carloways. This highly rated young five piece from Perth opened with a terrific cover of Bob Dylan’s “You ain’t going nowhere” as done by the Byrds – moving through a great range of covers and original songs. They are a very accomplished country rock/rockabilly outfit complete with the expected delicious harmonies. The song writing partnership of Flynn Sweeney and Mikey McLennan, who alternate on lead vocals and lead guitar, showed great promise on “Lose my mind” and “How I feel”, both on their new single. Ably supported by Steve Liddell on bass, Chris Paterson - rhythm guitar and Charlie Haggart on drums, they entertained wonderfully, building their show to a terrific climax with Woody Guthrie’s “This train”.

That was a great platform for Rupert Stroud to build on and build on it he did. The 28 year old from Leeds has been gaining radio airplay with his melodically inventive songs. Occupying the same sort of territory as the likes of George Ezra and Jake Bugg, Stroud has the ability to write songs that are instantly familiar and memorable. Performing tunes like “Light it up” and “Never back down” from his recent EPs he delighted the very appreciative audience at the Inchyra Arts Club with a show of style and skill. Supported by the drums of Michael Bedford and the bass playing of Paul Horatio Brown who also demonstrated their extraordinary skill and musicianship as they launched into an impromptu concert of their own as Rupert Stroud was forced to address some technical issues with his guitar. Closing their interlude with a hint of Stevie Wonder’s brilliant “Sir Duke” as Rupert Stroud returned to the stage to warm applause and preceded to wow the audience with his geniality and a succession of terrific new and current songs.   “Trouble” and “Spirit” sound like hits of the future and his closer ”Truth” should be a current success if its cross generational appeal was anything to go by. Encoring with his brand new single “Catch” he left the stage to a standing ovation. When he returns to Glencarse, I suspect, word of mouth will guarantee a capacity crowd. This was great stuff.

 

SCOUTING FOR GIRLS with support THE DUNWELLS

This was an amazing opportunity to see the festival headliners in the intimate space at Inchyra.

During their last tour Scouting For Girls played to more people than they’ve ever played to before. They were celebrating ten years since they first released their 2007 self-titled debut, a record that went on to become triple platinum and birthed the generation-bridging anthems of ‘She’s So Lovely’,  ‘Elvis Ain’t Dead’ and ‘Heartbeat’. 2017’s accompanying ‘Ten Add Ten’ record bundled that now-classic debut with ten new songs, proving that the band’s joy, energy and ability to write an instantly catchy chorus hadn’t gone anywhere.

Upbeat, fun and infectious, new album ‘The Trouble With Boys’ dives into their love of uniquely British bands like The Kinks, ELO, Madness and The Beatles. It’s designed to make people feel good. It’s about remembering to be excited, care-free and in love. It’s a very Scouting For Girls album. “Being in a band almost feels like you’ve gone to Neverland,” grins lead singer Roy Stride. “You never have to grow up.”

The acid-croftmeisters visited Inchyra on their major Untied Knot Tour - celebrating a new album launch and the band's 25th year which culminates in a performance at Edinburgh's huge Hogmanay night.

Shooglenifty’s sound springs from traditional Scottish dance music, energised by the beats and bass line of something altogether more contemporary. It is not a sit-down kind of music, it’s a join-in, and get on your feet kind of vibe and that's exactly what happened at Inchyra. Attempts to describe this almost uncatagorisable band include: ‘hypno-folkadelic-ambient-trad’ and ‘Acid-Croft’, which derives from late 1980s club music ‘Acid House’, a croft being a traditional Scottish rural dwelling.   This pioneering band is in demand all over the world and the guys have entertained at festivals and venues in Australia, Canada, India, Japan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Russia, the United States and, of course, Europe. Previous career highlights include performing for Nelson Mandela and Emperor Akihito of Japan (not both at once), performing with dhol drummers of Rajasthan at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, inciting the crowd to a stage invasion at Sydney Opera House, and collaborating with Lebanese musicians in Beirut.

Shooglenifty was formed in Edinburgh 25 years ago at the height of the late 80s/early 90s electronic dance music scene, and the vibe of that time is a key influence on their sound. Their latest album The Untied Knot was released in 2015 and is the first to feature song, for the most part supplied ‘puirt a beul’ vocalist Kaela Rowan, whose mesmeric voice wowed the Inchyra audience on the night.

We were proud to welcome the great Steve Forbert to Inchyra, one of the few artists who can mesmerize a crowd with nothing but a distinctive voice, an acoustic guitar and his trusty harmonica slung around his neck, letting the purity of his music stand on its own.

Singer-songwriter Steve Forbert had his first major hit back in 1979. Thirty-plus years later, he's still writing acclaimed songs having released 14 studio albums, including a Grammy-nominated tribute to Mississippi legend, Jimmie Rodgers. He has seen his songs performed by the likes of Keith Urban, Rosanna Cash and Marty Stuart and was inducted into the Mississippi Hall of Fame in 2006. His debut album, 'Alive on Arrival', showcased his innate musical genius and became one of the year's most acclaimed records. After being compared to folk-based stars like Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan, Forbert still managed to walk his own path. The highlight of the was the #11 Billboard hit, 'Romeo's Tune'.

He continues to blend folk, rock and country into his unique American sound which he performs aroung the world.

Following the publication in June of their new book 'Feeding Friends', pop up sensations Terry & George bring their renowned food and music experience to Inchyra. Terry and George hail from the kitchen of Le Gavroche and the Burberry catwalk and they create the most ambitious themed pop-up restaurants the UK has ever seen. Inspired by British ingredients and culture, they have cooked sell out nights in London, Manchester, New York and Hollywood.

Terry trained under the Michelin-starred chef Paul Heathcote in Liverpool before joining Michel Roux Jnr at Le Gavroche and then working with Mark Hix.  George started the band 'One Night Only' with a school friend at the age of 12. They made the Top 10 - and are still going strong today - but George has also developed a sideline in modelling, after he was scouted by Burberry.

Terry and George met in 2008 through mutual friends. Terry introduced George to foodie London. George introduced Terry to the music scene. They soon realised they could combine their skills to put on pop-up restaurant nights mixing great food with amazing music - appealing to people who enjoy eating out with friends but who can't always afford full-blown 'fine dining'.

Their menus include 'Northern Invasion' featuring their incredible version of Lancashire Hotpot, and 'Hen Party' with spineless chicken and a pudding of 'Eggs & Soldiers' - eggshells filled with creme brulee and mango jelly, accompanied by shortbread soldiers for dipping.

World class jazz came to the Inchyra Arts Club with the fabulous tone and exciting articulation of Arild Andesen's double bass playing. The Norwegian master is one of the key figures in European jazz and Chick Corea, Stan Getz, Don Cherry, Sonny Rollins, Pat Metheny and John Schofield are among the giants whose rhythm sections have featured Andersen's magical presence and sure sense of time.  A long association with the leading jazz label EM has seen Andersen appear on more than 40 releases and reinforced his reputation across the world.

Widely regarded as one fo the finest groups currently working in Jazz, Andersen's trio with the Scottish saxophone virtuoso Tommy Smith and the sensational Italian drummer Paolo Vinaccia presents music that thrills and moves the listener in equal measure. Drop-dead gorgeous melodies, razor-sharp interaction, urgent rhythms and, the hall mark of all great jazz, spontaneous creativity, converge in a live music experience that transcends style and genre and makes an Arild Anderson Trio concert an unmissable event.

Anderson formed the trio in 2007 with the aim of breaking new ground in contemporary jazz and their impact was immediate. The group's initial live performances were noted for their astonishing power, precision and dynamism.  This energy was quickly captureed on 'Live at Belleville', released in 2008 on ECM to widespread critical acclaim. The same year Andersen was awarded the prestigious Grand Prix du Musicien Europeen de l'Academie du Jazz in France for this recording.

Since then the trio have toured regularly and consolidated their worldwide reputation as an utterly compelling live act.  The trio have travelled widely and won the appreciation of jazz audiences as far afield as the USA, Japan, Scandinavia, Europe, the UK, Nicaragua, Argentina, India, Guatemala, Panama, Canada, South Korea and Egypt. We were delighted to be able to bring an act of this calibre to Inchyra and it was absolutely a night to remember.

A stunning line-up of authors, from Scotland and across the UK and from fiction and non-fiction, has been confirmed for the four-part series, which will go out this autumn on BBC Scotland.

Filmed in Perthshire and Helensburgh, the format of The Big Scottish Book Club is inspired by Damian Barr’s renowned Literary Salon, currently resident at London’s Savoy Hotel.

Ian Rankin says: “I grew up watching book shows on TV. They were rare enough then and there are even fewer now, despite the vast number of book-lovers in the UK. So it’s a joy to see Scotland get its own books programme and a privilege to be a guest on the first of what I hope will be many seasons.”

 

USEFUL INFORMATION

TICKETING: Tickets for shows at Inchyra can be purchased online through our ticketing partner Skiddle. Tickets through Skiddle are print at home e-tickets meaning there are no delivery charges. For some shows we also issue paper tickets which can be bought over the counter at the following outlets: St Madoes Village Store (very close to the venue), Spar in Errol, Bandwagon in Perth and Groucho's in Dundee. Tickets are transferable but non-refundable – this means that, once you have purchased a ticket you can give it or sell it to someone but it cannot be refunded by the venue. This is standard practice for live shows as it would be impossible to run shows if you couldn’t rely on the ticket sales. If a show is sold out, Skiddle run a very effective re-sale facility, which can be accessed through your Skiddle account.

ACCESS TO INCHYRA: Inchyra is a private home which is opened up for shows. The car park will open an hour before the doors open, which is usually at 7pm. Please don’t arrive on the estate earlier than this.

TIMINGS: Timings for Inchyra shows follow a pretty set format. Doors open at 7pm with hot food available and the bar open.  Show time 8pm. Unfortunately we are not able to advise on end times for live shows as these will vary accordingly to the artist.  However, if there is support the times will be approximately 8.00pm support act, 9pm headline act, with a finish at approximately 10.30pm, but this may run over depending on encores etc. Shows without a support act are likely to finish earlier. The bar is usually open until 11pm.

SEATING FORMATS: Seating for all shows at Inchyra is unreserved.  We will tell you at the top of each show listing what style of show it is.  Here's a description of what to expect for each style of seating:

• Cabaret Seating: jazz club style seating at small round tables with chairs, together with some bench seating for larger cabaret style shows.  Chairs are padded, benches are not. You are advised to arrive early to grab the best seats.
• Theatre Seating:  chairs laid out in rows facing the stage and allocated on a first come, first served basis.  Please be advised that due to the construction of the barn, seats in some places will have a supporting beam in their view, so again arrive early to grab the best seats. 
• Standing:  there is very limited seating available at these shows.  

DISABLED ACCESS: If you require disabled access or seating for any of our shows, including standing, please contact us on 01738 860066 and we will do our best to arrange this for you. Please be advised that disabled seating at standing shows requires the construction of a ramp and raised stand so please contact us well in advance.  Priority will be given to wheelchair users. We cannot guarantee disabled seating if we are not notified in advance of the show.  There are disabled parking bays close to the venue, where again, wheelchair users will be given priority.  

FOOD: for most shows at Inchyra there is hot food available (usually street style food) and we will detail this in the show information at the top of the page. Food is served from doors opening time. 

BAR: Unless otherwise specified there is a licenced bar available at all shows. 

 

UNDER 18s: we are all in favour of introducing children and young people to live music at an early age, however, our experience is that below a certain age the vast majority of children find big loud shows too much which is not great for them or for the rest of the audience. We therefore give a minimum age which is our experience is suitable for each show. Please do not buy tickets for children below the stated age as we will not be able to give them access.

 

 

The BCO are hugely entertaining, immensely skilled and boast some of the best musicians in the land. Playing traditional folk and gypsy music from across the Balkans and Russia, they hail, obviously, from Harringey!

A small but impeccably formed orchestra of four players, the BCO combine violin, guitar, accordion, double bass, saz and balalaika to create an awesome aural alchemy - and one that you would normally expect from a far larger ensemble.   

Two of the country's most revered international soloists are nestled at the heart of proceedings.   Accordionist extraordinaire Eddie Hession has accompanied Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and Chris Rea.  Christian Garrick is one of Europe's most celebrated jazz violinists and his CV boasts the likes of Cleo Laine and Johnny Dankworth, Wynton Marsalis, Nigel Kennedy and Duffy.   

At this show, the BCO showcased their brand new album 'The Gaelic Chronicles', inspired by the places and people seen and met on five years touring the Scottish Highlands and Islands.  

A great young band from Leeds - think Elbow with a bit of Mumford and a dash of Damien Rice.  Great stuff and we were lucky enough to have the first night of this UK tour.  

The Dunwells have already made an impact in America with their 2013 debut album Blind Sighted Faith—having hit singles and playing them on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, appearing at Lollapalooza and Red Rocks—but now their sights are set closer to home: to make an even bigger impact in the UK - and we're pretty sure they will. 

This was a thoroughly brilliant night in the Byre - many people commented that it felt like you were seeing a band playing a huge venue - they played to the Byre audience as if we were Wembley!  Fantastic stuff.  We may be proved wrong but we all agreed that we wouldn't be surprised if this was one of those bands that in a few years time we'll all be saying 'do you remember when we saw The Dunwells in Glencarse?!"

The LaFontaines delivered one of the stand-out performances at Inchyra - complete with the first ever crowd surf!  This was the first night of their headlining UP tour and the boys brough their A game.  

 

 

This was an amazing chance to see one of the nation's best-loved bands play in the intimacy of the Byre.  

The Magic Numbers are a UK-based four-piece comprising two pairs of brothers and sisters (Romeo and Michele Stodart, Sean and Angela Gannon) and are known for their unique harmonies, melodic hooks, songwriting craftsmanship and timeless sound.

We were delighted to welcome them to Inchyra on one of only two Scottish dates in this leg of an international tour supporting the release of their latest album, Outsiders.

Local heroes The New Madrids brought their deservedly popular Americana influenced blues and soul to the Arts Club.  We invited The New Madrids to play at the official launch of the Arts Club in June because of our deep and meaningful love of Americana blues rock, but we couldn't leave it at that - and were really pleased to welcome them back for a full Arts Club show.  

Formed in 2010 as an amalgamation of the four remaining members of Americana stalwarts $outhpaw and the lead singer/founder of rock & blues degenerates The Revivals, this year saw the release of their first full album, Through The Heart of Town.    The album has received cracking reviews and rightly so - we couldn't put it better than this review by David James Innes:  "As debut release go this is a great start for any band and though this is following  a well trodden path,  the destination is always going to be worth the trip. The New Madrids is another name to add to a growing list of UK bands finding their own space and place. They should be on your musical map if you like your roots/rock music to have some muscle."

So, come and join us as the band flex their Americana muscle at the Arts Club! 

 

The Spooky Men's Chorale are the gift that keeps on giving, as anyone who chuckled their way through a Spooky show will attest … "as thunderous as a herd of wildebeest, as sly as a wagonload of Spike Milligans and as sonorous as a cloister of monks." The man-choir emerged blinking-eyed from the Blue Mountains of NSW fifteen years ago and armed with no more than their impressively cavernous vocal chords, a nice line in deadpan, improbable facial hair and an ill-matched set of hats, have been gleefully wooing audiences throughout Australia, NZ and the UK ever since.

Renowned for a combination of Visigothic bravado, absurdist humour and eye-moistening tenderness, the Spookies, in middle age, are more masters of their territory than ever before, with five critically-acclaimed albums under their belt.

Brandishing a shiny brand new CD 'Welcome To The Second Half', the magnificent craggy assemblage of heavenly singing male bodies returned to the UK in 2019, ever more comfortable with their whimsical humour and musical breadth – a winning spectrum of Georgian songs, pin-drop beautiful ballads, highly inappropriate covers and immaculate man anthems.

One of the best live bands currently working in the UK, The Temperance Movement played Inchyra on a rain-free summer evening producing one of the stand out performances of their career in one of Scotland's most atmospheric venues.   

The band's eagerly-anticipated new album, 'A Deeper Cut', was released in February this year to rave reviews across the board and features 12 brand new songs which draw on the band's most recent experiences.  

"This is my favourite record we've made so far and I'm more excited about getting this out there than I have been about any of the previous albums," states guitarist Paul Sayer.  "I feel like we've really captured what the band is about on this one; I can't wait for people to hear it and I can't wait to get out on the road and play it live to everyone."

The Temperance Movement made a very welcome return to Inchyra in this one-off sold-out special show.  

The View played for the first time in five years in this very special warm-up show before a run of four sold out nights at the O2 Glasgow.

After an impressive 19 years together, seven studio albums and over a million records sold worldwide, they might be excused a bit of downtime. But no…….the estimable London 4-piece Turin Brakes released their eighth studio album ‘Invisible Storm’ in January 2018 on Cooking Vinyl and headed out across the UK on 'The Invisible Storm' Tour. 

Invisible Storm is big-picture music played on a small screen, refracted through lyrics that embrace the personal and the universal. Formed in Balham South London, Turin Brakes released their Mercury Music Prize nominated debut album The Optimist in 2001 followed by Ether Song in 2003 which featured the top 5 hit single Pain Killer (Summer Rain). One of the finest indie bands of the last decade with 7 top 40 hits to their name Turin Brakes are a band that’s weathered many Invisible Storms, are sure of who they are and what they’ve set out to do, and know that there’s always a story left to tell…

On the night the band were supported by the wonderful Eliza Shaddad who only that day had seen her debut LP well reviewed in The Sunday Times. Eliza is a Scottish-Sudanese musician and songwriter who has released two critically acclaimed EPs on independent label Beatnik Creative.  Championed by tastemakers across BBC Radios, Radio X, and supported by the likes of The Sunday Times, i-D Magazine and FADER, Shaddad has seen her reputation for moving songwriting and powerful live shows grow, collaborating with the likes of Clean Bandit and Tom Speight, and playing dates with the likes of Kate Tempest, Oh Wonder, Lucy Rose and James Bay.

Wille & The Bankdits were supported by rising star Frankie Forman for this show. Frankie is a singer songwriter from London who started out singing in the bars and cafes of Montmartre in Paris at the age of 18. Returning to London she started two bands before going solo in 2014. With husky tones often compared to Lana Del Rey and Mazzy Star, Frankie's sound marks the place where trip hop, soul and bluesy rock and roll meet. She sold out the launch show for her second EP 'Hootch' last year and went on to perform at festivals across the country, from Camp Bestival to Boomtown. 

Last autumn, Frankie announced a three month residency at the world famous Ronnie Scott's club and, fresh from the success of that, she joins us at the Arts Club. With work beginning now on her debut album, we are thrilled to have the opportunity of bringing her to Inchyra.
