Roddy Woomble - 7th September 2016

Roddy Woomble - 7th September 2016

Roddy celebrated the 10th annniversary of his debut solo album 'My Secret is my Silence' with a special UK tour and song book. We were delighted to be a part of this special celebration.

Know to thousands of music fans as the front man of Scottish rock band Idlewild, Roddy Woomble is also a celebrated solo songwriter and peformer.  'My Secret is my Silence', debuted at No 1 in the UK folk charts in 2006 and received great acclaim, with a 5* review in the Sunday Times.  Though word of mouth the album became something of a 'cult classic'.

As Roddy says, "(the album) was a low key thing, and everyone had low expectations (laughs) ... we put the album out and did 6 shows to support it and then just left it alone. It took on a life of its own after 2006 - it was a word of mouth thing. By the time I took to the road in support of the next solo record (2011's 'the impossible song & other songs') I was really surprised how much those songs and that album had come to mean to people - the songs were treated like hits when I played them!"

Roddy's full band featuring Hannah Fisher (violin, vocals), Craig Ainslie (bass), Sorren Maclean (guitar, vocals) and Danny Grant (drums) helped to create the perfect backdrop for Roddy's poetic lyrics, blending touches of country and folk to a set of poignant songs.

"I'm really excited to play through 'My Secret is my Silence' with the band - I always view songs as evolving things, so it'll be interesting to see how they sound on stage 10 years later - the last time some of these songs were sung was the day they were recorded." Roddy Woomble
